In the photo, the player who was captured kneeling with his head down had a leather rope tied around his waste.

The photo has generated a lot of attention on social media as many claim the rope is a sign of 'juju'.

Instagram users took to the comment section to share their opinion after rapper Reggie Rockstone posted the photo:

@patrick.owusu.3701 quizzed if the talisman will work: "Hmmm Asem b3ba dabi. juju or protection,who is even going to fight him."

@angelaamoafo claimed he should be allowed to practice his faith: "Allow e man. He's African."

@boboblinxgh alleged Heart has been exposed: "Hahhahahah Hearts finally exposed. u chop gbala lef ur brains for haus. Lol."

@max_blinkz expressed his suspicion: "Ei juju football."

@nbafuel had this to say: "Oh Afrkan football, Daabidaa."

The photo seemed to have sealed assertions that teams and soccer players often consult fetish priests and mallams ahead of matches.

The game between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko came off on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

After the game ended in a one-all draw, the winner was decided by a penalty kick which saw Asante Kotoko winning.

The porcupine warriors won by scoring five penalties while Hearts of Oak was able to score only four.

Meanwhile, sports journalist Saddick Adams has explained what might be the reason for the talisman on the player's waist.
