YEN.com.gh is in possession of photos of a scrap dealer who has been arrested for stealing fuses belonging to Power Distribution Services.
The suspect, Mohammed Awal, an 18-year-old scrap dealer, stole the fuses from a PDS sub-station at Tema.
Per a report by Dailyguidenetwork.com, the fuses were retrieved from a scrap yard.
Christopher Apawu, the acting manager of the Tema South District of PDS, explained that recently, PDS has been receiving reports from residents in the communities who have been complaining of power outages.
He added that when PDS Faults Team reached the substations, they realised all the fuses in the distribution pillars had been removed by unknown persons.
Apawu went on to say a complaint was lodged at the Community 2 Distruct Police Command for investigation to commence.
“But for the past 2 weeks the rate of theft of these fuses had increased drastically where every day we receive reports of outages and we got there just to find the fuses stolen,” he said.
Information available shows that until Thursday, June 13, 2019, the suspect was living close to the sub-station.
