The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, has reacted to comments from the office of the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to Suhuyini, Dr. Bawumia is “shamelessly dishonest” after the vice president’s office reacted to a tweet read by the MP on air.
YEN.com.gh understands that the tweet, which has meanwhile been described as a fabrication by the MP, came from the Twitter account of the then vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The alleged tweet sought to create the impression that the NPP would never borrow if given the nod to rule the country.
It is “blatant falsehood”, Bawumia’s spokesperson, Dr. Gideon Boako, said in a statement on Monday, 17 June, 2019.
Per a Dailymailgh.com report, Dr. Boako explained that Dr. Bawumia, at no point, tweeted such a message, and as such it should be ignored.
Reacting to the remark, Suhuyini said: “I’m surprised that the vice president will attempt to rescue his sinking image with a dishonourable denial of what is known by many and was one of the basis upon which they admired him and may have hoped that as veep, he will be Ghana’s economic messiah, which for decades have remained vulnerable and unstable.”
