According to TalkSPORT's Ben Fletcher, the west London side is keen to land Lampard from Derby County in the coming days.

“So I think we can say with confidence that Frank Lampard will be installed as the Chelsea manager in the near future," he said.

“I’m led to believe it’ll be before the end of this week, but it remains to be seen whether I’ve got that one right," he concluded.

Express UK reports Lampard has already been offered a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea will first have to offer Derby a compensation fee of £4million.

The former England international has enjoyed a successful managerial debut with the Rams after guiding them to the Championship playoff finals.

They were however ultimately defeated by Aston Villa to miss a chance to seal promotion to the English topflight.

The club are reportedly eyeing a potential move for Aston Villa assistant boss, John Terry, to take over from his former pal.
