Akufo-Addo sends stern warning to digital fraudsters

- Akufo-Addo says Ghana has now established a strong digital economy

- The president indicated that the national identification system, which requires, among others, that, a citizen has a digital property address, is being rolled out

- He also sent caution to digital fraudsters who want to undermine the system

President Akufo-Addo has warned that his administration will relentlessly deal with digital fraudsters who seek to undermine the country with their activities.

According to him, government will go every length to foil the activities of digital fraudsters and to safeguard the digital economy of Ghana.

The president was speaking at the opening ceremony of a three-day SWIFT African Regional Conference.

The programme was held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, under the theme, “Enabling the Digital Economy”.

The evolution of technological innovations have a downside” and that “the world over cyber-attacks on digital payment platforms have become sophisticated and it is important that we close ranks to deal with this new emerging threat lest we risk the erosion of confidence in our financial Payment system,” Nana Addo said.

The president further encouraged financial service representatives to find strategic solutions to the digital financial challenges in Africa.

He called for the use of the 26th edition of the SWIFT African Regional Conference (ARC) in that regard.

This conference should serve as the Fulcrum to strengthen the future of the African financial industry,” he stated.

I believe in this room; we have a distinguished gathering who will share their perspectives on some of the critical issues to spare our continent towards the path of full digitization of her economies.
