Former Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba has taken a swipe at Ghana for failing to include Solomon Asante in the squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

In a Twitter post, Drogba described the pacey winger as the “magician” that Ghana has forgotten about.

The Magician @Asante208 Ghana national team forgot about but thank God you’re one of us @PHXRisingFC," the Chelsea legend wrote.

Asante currently plies his trade at US-based Phoenix Rising, a club co-owned by Didier Drogba.

The Ghanaian was on the score sheet when his side defeated Orange County 3-0 last Saturday.

But despite bagging13 goals in 32 appearances in the USL, Asante was overlooked by Coach Kwesi Appiah when naming his squad for the AFCON.

The former TP Mazembe star has so far played in two AFCONS for Ghana – in 2012 and in 2015.

The Black Stars are currently preparing to take on the rest of Africa in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The continental showpiece will kick start in Egypt on Friday, with the hosts set to take on Zimbabwe in the opening game.

Ghana’s Black Stars are aiming to end a 37-year trophy-less run, which stretches back to 1982.

Ghana will face Guinea-Bissau, Benin and defending champions Cameroon in Group F of the tournament.
