Two years after Cameroon lifted the trophy in Gabon, Africa’s biggest national tournament is back! AFCON 2019 begins this Friday in Egypt as the continent’s biggest names play for the pride of their nation, and Premier Bet are celebrating with offers on matches throughout the tournament.
There are plenty of stars involved, too. Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita are looking to end their brilliant season at Liverpool with another piece of silverware. Premier League champion Riyad Mahrez has the chance to carry Algeria to the title, while Hakim Ziyech and Nicolas Pepe will hope to carry their amazing form into the tournament.
This is the 32nd edition of the AFCON, but it will be the first time that the tournament has been held in the summer. The players have had plenty of time to rest after the end of the domestic season and will be well prepared for the next four weeks. The conditions are perfect for a great tournament!
The Black Stars’ time to shine
Ghana haven’t tasted glory in the AFCON since 1982. None of the current squad were alive on that day, but the Black Stars have reached the semi-finals in each of the last six tournaments and even came second in 2015.
However, their preparations haven’t gone as smoothly as hoped. Doubts were cast over whether veteran Asamoah Gyan would be involved in the squad, leading Ghana’s all-time top scorer to retire from international duty. Although he eventually returned, it will be Andre Ayew who captains the team this time around.
The players undoubtedly have the quality though. James Kwesi Appiah has some fine talent at his disposal, not least in attack, where the Ayew brothers can wreak havoc alongside Gyan and Christian Atsu. Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey has eight goals in 21 international matches so far and has the ability to dominate in midfield. The Black Stars also boast a defence that conceded just once in qualifying.
They have also been drawn into a favourable group. Current holders Cameroon pose a challenge, but Benin and Guinea-Bissau should not cause them too many problems. Premier Bet are offering odds of 7.50* for them to lift the trophy, as well as odds of 2.50* for them to finish first, second or third.
Free bets with Premier Bet
Ghana’s clash with Cameroon promises to be one of the biggest games in the group stage. Premier Bet are marking the occasion with a special offer for all fans! Any online players who bet 10 Cedi or more on the game will get 10 Cedi back as a free bet! It doesn’t matter whether you win or lose. Look out for this reward in the build-up to the game on June 29th.
This isn’t the only match where there are free bets available, though. The same offer applies to the opening game between Egypt and Zimbabwe, as well as three other matches during the group stage.
Bigger odds for Black Stars fans
Premier Bet are also offering bigger odds for all of Ghana’s games throughout the tournament. Odds Boosts will be available for every single Black Stars match, meaning bigger winnings for the fans! What better way to celebrate another win for Appiah’s men than more money in your account!
