Meet ex-Muslim lady who says dad vowed to kill her for converting to Christianity

18-year-old Mariam Abubakar says she wants to become a Christian but her father, a devout Muslim would have none of that and has threatened to kill her. Now, her lawyer is calling on authorities to take note.

Mariam Abubakar, lived with her parents until March 30, 2019 when she embraced Christianity but this is something that has not gone down very well with his father and Mariam claims her father wants to kill her.

Abcnewsgh.com who initially carried the story has now reported that popular human rights lawyer, Francis Xavier Sosu is now calling for the arrest of Abubakar Seidu for threatening to kill his own daughter.

Mariam told Joy News in an interview: “My father said because of the church he’ll disown me and now I don’t have anywhere to go. He told me if I still go to the church, he’ll bring cutlass there and come and butcher me.”

According to the 18-year-old girl, she has been on the run for several weeks now since her father threatened her life.

Speaking in an interview, legal practitioner Sosu stated that the case moved from a purely domestic one to a criminal case.

“I think every human life is important and once the threat has been made, the law enforcement officers need to invite the father, not even invite, arrest the father and possibly caution him and those steps will be a check on the father,” he said.

Sosu continued that leaders of the Islamic sect in the country should dialogue with the father in order to persuade him out of his life threatening decision.

“Also, I think, we should dialogue with the father, if possible, through the National Chief Imam so that he will change his decision," Sosu continued.
