Meet Ezekiel Ansah, the Presec boy who is now making waves playing American football

Ezekiel Ansah is the only Ghanaian playing in the National Football League (NFL) in the United States and his presence and story have become points of inspiration for thousands in his native.

A defensive player for the Seattle Seahawks is Ghanaian Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah who lived much of his life in his native but got the chance to be educated in the US and became the recipient of a good opportunity thanks to his athleticism.

Ziggy, as fellow students of Presbyterian Boys' School (Legon Presec) would call him from 2004, was born in Accra on May 29, 1989.

Adenta, a suburb of Accra, is where the future NFL player would spend the formative years of his life.

He attended the Golden Sunbeam School and then proceeded to Presec to offer Business.

At Presec, Ziggy became an instant hit with the rest of the student populace because of his physical stature and athleticism.

He represent his house in sports competitions. (high schools group students into houses just like Harry Potter's Hogwarts).

Ziggy played basketball but he was also exceptionally quick on the tracks. He won accolades for himself and his house.

It was his pace that would eventually put him in the limelight when he left Presec after completion and enrolled at the Brigham Young University in Idaho, USA.

At Brigham Young, Ziggy gave up on basketball and played American football. And he was quite good.

He was drafted by the Detroit Lions fifth overall in the 2013 NFL Draft. Now, he stars for the Seahawks.

Ezekiel Ansah's story is an inspiration for the many modest youth like himself in the suburbs of Accra and Ghana as a whole. These days, he is looking to set up a foundation to help young boys and girls with their education.

That is the true mark of a homegrown hero.
