The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has requested for an audit of the limited voter registration exercise conducted at Wa Central.
The reason for the request, YEN.com.gh understands is that the party wants investigations conducted into some alleged irregularities.
Citinewsroom.com reports that this was revealed by the leadership of the NDC in a press conference held on Sunday, June 23, 2019.
The Wa Central NDC office also accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of conniving with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the area to create an undesignated registration centre at the NPP zonal office at Nakore, a suburb of Wa, to allegedly register unqualified persons.
The office’s communication officer, Mumuni Mohammed Tando, revealed, “at about 10 am, our men on the grounds monitoring the registration process reported of the creation of an undesignated registration centre by the Electoral Commission at the New Patriotic Party’s zonal office at Nakori, a stone throw from the original gazetted and approved centre.”
Following the report, the NDC constituency chairman in the company of his youth organizer and other executives reached the scene to ascertain the veracity of the report, Citinewsroom.com reports.
They allegedly spotted Karim Topie, the presiding member of the municipal assembly and two officials of the EC with registration kits fully set and registering people.
