Dog follows arrested owner to police station; stays over 1 year waiting

A dog stayed around a police station for about a year in Argentina after its human owner, and you can say friend, was taken in by authorities for assault, and this show of affection has melted hearts around the world.

They say a dog is a man or a woman's best friend but few come like Sheila, a golden retriever from Buenos Aires in Argentina who stayed around a police station for about a year after its owner was taken in for assault.

According to, the loyal dog showed up outside the police station in 25 de Mayo, a small town in Argentina’s Buenos Aires province, soon after her owner was arrested in 2018.

Staff at the station said Sheila must have followed the patrol her owner was in, but when she came, she never left.

Unsurprisingly, it did not take long for the officers to notice her presence, and some of them started bringing her food to gain her trust.

Deputy commissioner of police, Juan Jose Martini said: “The truth is that the day we brought the man to the station, after a while Sheila showed up and never left.

We think she must have followed the patrol car. From the first minute, Sheila, who is 4 or 5 years old, stood outside the building, immediately earning the love of everyone. Today she is part of our family and has adjusted so well that when the staff goes out to patrol the streets on foot she follows them.”
