Anti-corruption crusader, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus has revealed how he had to reject advise from some New Patriotic Party (NPP) members to engage in corrupt practices and loot the public purse.
He noted how he had to reject advise from his own party members to take advantage of the government’s reign and enjoy some money.
Speaking to Kwaku Sintim Misa (KSM) on the ‘Bo Me Nkomo’ show, A Plus, whilst talking about corruption chastised the two major political parties; NPP and NDC for putting their selfish interests over the general good of the country.
“I hear a lot of NPP figures say Kwame, keep quiet and eat. Even if you give me bank of Ghana, I will never do what is wrong at the expense of the country. A lot of them say it; that my party is in power so I should enjoy. With this, how can the country develop for the next generation?”, he quizzed.
He added that no one can influence him to participate in the looting and sharing of government's resources.
“Whether or not you get contracts, whether they increase, take it or otherwise, the most important thing is that Ghana develops so we can’t do, ‘keep quiet and chop," he noted.
He said anyone who wants the good of this country irrespective of their political affiliation, would have to know the country is very important.
"Every good citizen defends his country all the time and his party when they deserve it. We have to support Ghana all the time because this is the only country we have. For NPP and NDC, they can only get commendation when they do the right thing but the focus should always be Ghana,” he said.
He further advised the youth not to succumb to pressure to steal and engage in corruption. Instead, he indicated, they should work towards defending Ghana and pushing for growth.
