A former deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, has lashed out at the government for the deteriorating state of the Asomdwee Park, where former president John Evans Atta-Mills has been buried.
Taking to Facebook, a social media platform, she argued that there is a breakdown in law and order, with regard to the maintenance of the park.
She further noted that the current state of the park no longer makes it a befitting final resting place of the late president.
Per a report by Citinewsroom.com, Dr. Sawyerr went on to say the National Democratic Congress is prepared to take over the management of the park if the government is unable to do so.
Professor Mills, who died in office in July 2012, was buried at the Asomdwee Park, which is under the supervision of the department of parks and gardens.
The department, which was established in 1961, falls under the ministry of local government and rural development.
The department is responsible for the development of the nation’s landscape and the preservation and beautification of the environment.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that drug users and prostitutes have invaded the Asomdwee Park.
Another report revealed that the family of the late president intends to exhume his body and rebury it in his hometown.
