AFCON 2019: Dede Ayew injured after Ghana's draw with Benin (video)

Information coming from the camp of Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars, in Egypt indicate that team captain, Andre 'Dede' Ayew, has suffered an injury

According to YEN.com.gh sources, Dede Ayew could not walk freely as he went out of the dressing room at Ismailia Stadium to join the team bus after the 2-2 draw with Benin on Tuesday, June 25, 2019.

A video sighted by YEN.com.gh, confirms Dede's injury after the Benin match.

In the video, Dede was seen limping on his right leg with a white bandage covering the leg from his ankle to the shin level.

The Black Stars captain, YEN.com.gh understands, was to undergo a scan and check the extent of his injury on Wednesday, June 26.

It is not known the extent of Dede's injury but it will be big blow if he does not recover in time for Ghana's next game on Saturday, June 29, 2019, which will be against Cameroon.

Dede put up a splendid display in what was his match African Cup of Nations (AFCON) match as Ghana captain.

But his best was not enough and had to be brought off for Afriyie Acquah as the Black Stars were held to 2-2 draw by the Squirrels of Benin.

That notwithstanding, Dede's ninth minute goal which cancelled an early lead for the Beninois has made him the Ghanaian player with the highest number of AFCON goals.

He has nine and is followed by Asamoah Gyan with eight goals, Osei Kofi with eight goals and Wilberforce Mfum with five goals.
