Citi FM boss demands minister’s exit from office; says National Security is clueless

Ghanaian businessman and media personality, Samuel Atta Mensah, called on the government to remove the minister of national security, Albert Kan Dapaah, from office.

According to him, the leadership of the national security is clueless, taking into consideration the treatment meted out to some employees of ModernGhana, an online media platform.

His comments follow reports of a raid of the offices of ModernGhana by some people identified as national security officials.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the workers were picked up on, along with some office equipment on Thursday, June 27, 2019

William Nana Beeko, the Editor-in-Chief of ModernGhana, revealed that the editors were picked up after a story involving the national security minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo Markin, was posted on the website.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) soon called for Dapaah’s resignation, saying President AKufo-Addo’s government is overseeing violation of press freedom as well as abuse of human rights.

A renowned Ghanaian journalist, Mannaseh Azure Awuni, also disclosed that per information he received, the editors were tortured during the time spent with the officials from the national security.
