President Akufo-Addo has expressed his delight following the Black Stars’ win over Guinea-Bissau in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
Akufo-Addo couldn’t hide his joy after the Black Stars defeated Guinea-Bissau 2-0 on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, to top Group F ahead of Cameroon and Benin.
The four-time African champions were given a good run for their money in the first department of the game.
But in the second half, they proved their worth as Jordan Ayew opened the scoring in the 46th minute.
In the 72nd minute Thomas Partey put the game beyond the reach of Guinea-Bissau with a superb finish.
However, Akufo-Addo in reacting to the win took to Twitter to congratulate the team for making it to the round of 16.
He has also charged the team to end the country’s trophy drought as they take on Tunisia in the next stage of the competition
