Fashion has always been led by some of the famous people, and hairstyles in Ghana during the 1980s right through to the early 2000s, was led by the likes of musicians Daddy Lumba and Adomako Nyamekye.
Ghanaian fashion sense has been progressive since the early 1990s. We owe this progression to some of our music icons.
YEN.com.gh takes a look at some musicians who influenced hairstyles back in those days.
1. Adomako Nyamekye
Adomako Nyamekye switched between hairstyles but his blowout jerry curls was a very notable hairstyle.
2. Daddy Lumba
Daddy Lumba is definitely the most famous name on this list. He is also the man with the most diverse range of hairstyles in a career spanning close to 40 years.
3. Nana Acheampong
Nana Acheampong is as good a musician as he is a fashionista. His hairstyles were way ahead of the times.
4. Sloopy Mike Gyamfi
Mike Gyamfi, popularly known as Sloopy, is fondly remembered for 'Telephone Nkomo'. He is also noted for his 'punky joe' hairstyle.
5. Amakye Dede
Amakye Dede is nicknamed the 'Iron Boy'. He is also famous for the 'high boy' hair cuts.
