YEN.com.gh has gathered that some prominent personalities have been picked up by the police following a campaign to rid Ghana’s roads of indisciplined drivers.
Information available shows that the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kade, Kwabena Ohemeng Tinyase, was stopped by the police, but he challenged the action.
He reportedly exchanged words with the police officials for arresting his driver and taking away his license.
The incensed lawmaker was upset that law enforcers arrested him while on his way to make laws.
Per a report by Citinewsroom.com, other notable people stopped were a military officer, Colonel Joseph Azar Akampachab, who was arrested for driving against traffic with his flashlights, as well an unnamed New Patriotic Party (NPP) big wig who works at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department.
The offending drivers will be processed for the Abeka Motor Court and the Achimota Police Station will serve as the hold-up area for the impounded vehicles.
Meanwhile, the leaders of the majority and minority sides in Parliament have disclosed the possibility of aborting plans to construct a new chamber.
According to them, the project would be ignored if Ghanaians continue to protest after the leaders have stated their cases.
The Speaker of the House, Professor Aaron Michael Ocquaye, has meanwhile stated that the project would not be tolerated if its cost exceeds $200 million.
