The Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Michael Ocquaye, has disclosed that President Akufo-Addo is in support of the proposed Parliamentary chamber.
He again revealed that the president has agreed to cut the sod for the commencement of the project.
He added that for that reason, the project is enjoying a lot of goodwill from notable stakeholders.
Per a report by Starrfm.com.gh, the construction of the new chamber has however come under serious attack with civil society groups, including MPs and Ghanaians kicking against it.
According to the Africa Centre for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA), construction of a new parliamentary chamber should not be a priority for Ghana.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the majority and minority leaders have meanwhile revealed the only condition under which the projected would be halted.
In other news, some prominent personalities have been picked up by the police, following a campaign to rid Ghana’s roads of undisciplined drivers.
Information available shows that the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kade, Kwabena Ohemeng Tinyase, was stopped by the police, but he challenged the action.
He reportedly exchanged words with the police officials for arresting his driver and taking away his license.
The incensed lawmaker was upset that law enforcers arrested him while on his way to make laws.
