Ghanaians attack Bantama MP for saying building 450-seater chamber is good use of money

The news of the construction of a 450-seater new parliamentary chamber has received a lot of bashing from the public space with many calling it a waste of money.

According to the masses, the money that would be used to construct the 'unnecessary edifice' could be directed to other pressing areas like housing, education, health, roads and power.

When asked if the chamber which has been widely reported would cost $200m was the best use of money, Member of Parliament for Bantama, Daniel Okyem Aboagye said, "It is something that is worth doing, it is a good use of our money. Of course, we will not leave the rest of the issues untackled," he said.

He added that employment was being created, and the economy was being managed very well.

"If we can have two hundred million dollars that is good money that can also be used to build our democracy, I think it's a good use for me," he added.
