- A trader from Somanya has been jailed three for publishing nude photos and video of his ex-girlfriend
- The 29-year-old was said had recorded an intimate session with his 22-year-old girlfriend and the video ended up on social media sometime later
- He had pleaded not guilty bu the Odumase Krobo Circuit found him guilty after a full trial
The Odumase Krobo Circuit Court in the Eastern region has sentence a 29-year-old trader, Prince Teye, to a three-year jail term for circulating nude photos and video of his ex-girlfriend on social media.
The accused was found guilty and sentenced on July 3, 2019, over the charge of publication of obscene materials.
Teye was said to have had sexual intercourse with the 22-year-old victim (name withheld), a former student of the Yilo Krobo Senior High School, recorded and took pictures of the act with his mobile phone. The images ended up on Facebook.
Though he had pleaded not guilty to the charge, the court presided over by Mr F.Y. Gbeddy convicted him after full trial.
Two others, Bismark Amuzu and Raphael Lawer Raphael, both 21 years, who were charged with abetment of crime, were however acquitted and discharged.
According to a report YEN.com.gh sighted on 3news.com, The three were picked up following a report filed by the girl’s parents. They were subsequently arraigned for intentionally and unlawfully publishing obscene pictures of the complainant.
Prosecuting, DSP Richmond Akwasi Yeboah told the court that the complainant is a resident at Salosi, a suburb of Somanya.
Teye is a trader and was the boyfriend to the complainant, while Amuzu, and Lawer were Sim card vendor and student respectively, all resided at Somanya.
The prosecutors said in February 2017, Teye and the complainant had sexual intercourse in Teye‘s room and in the process. Teye was said to have taken the photographs and a video recording of the act.
The complainant though agreed to the taking of the pictures, she however warned Teye not to show it to anybody else.
According to the prosecutors, sometime later, the complainant was at home when her cousin and his friend brought her the naked pictures that Teye took, claiming they saw same on Facebook.
The complaint confronted Teye who claimed he mistakenly sent the photographs to Amuzu.
A report was subsequently made to the police and the accused persons were arrested for investigations.
During investigations, Teye told the police that he mistakenly sent the pictures to Amuzu, claiming when the pictures were sent, the phone was with Lawer but when the phone was brought to him he saved the pictures in his Apps lock.
Lawer claimed in his statement to the police that the pictures came to the phone at 11: 30pm but he gave the phone to Amuzu the next morning.
They were processed for court after investigations into the matter.
