A photo of school pupils sitting on blocks in a dilapidated classroom has gone viral on social media amid the $200 million construction of new parliament chamber brouhaha.
Ghanaians have expressed their sad emotions towards a photo of pupils sitting on blocks in a classroom amid the decision by MPs to build a new parliament chamber.
In the photo that was posted by former presidential spokesperson Ben Dotse Malor on Facebook, the pupils were seen using cement blocks as their tables and chairs.
The photo seemed to have attracted sad emotions since there is an existing saga between MPs and Ghanaian citizens over the building of a new parliament chamber.
Members of parliament from both the majority and the minority have come under heavy criticism for announcing that they want to source funds for the construction of a new chamber.
According to the MPs, the existing parliament chamber is not spacious enough to usher them fruitful proceedings.
They claimed that the chairs in the current chamber is inadequate thus hinder them from feeling comfortable.
The announcement has however received agitation and backlash from scores of Ghanaians who claim that the MPs are asking for too much.
Some Ghanaians who aired their views revealed that the $200 million reported to be the cost can be used for other much important projects than building a new chamber.
Actress Lydia Forson joined to troll the MPs for being corrupt as she jabbed them for their decision.
In a related development, an army officer has been allegedly locked up for publicly criticizing MPs over the matter in a video that has gone viral.
