University reportedly gives best student GHc1.50 cash gift

The best graduating student of department of civil engineering from Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, Nigeria, has reportedly been awarded with a cash gift of N100 (GHc1.50 - one cedi, fifty pesewas).

The amount was awarded to Bamisaye Tosin Tope and the letter informing the awardee of the 'precious' cash prize was from the office of the registrar of EKSU.

Many Nigerians could not hide their anger at what they said was such a paltry sum of cash gift for academic brilliance.
