The Black Stars of Ghana have a great history when it comes to the African Cup of Nations Cup (AFCON).
Since Ghana joined FIFA in 1957, the nation have involved themselves in many football tournaments and playing against many sides.
However, the Black Stars are currently seeking to end their 37-year-old trophy drought in the ongoing AFCON in Egypt.
After the group games. Ghana topped Group F with five points ahead of Cameroon and Benin and Guinea-Bissau.
The West African giants are in the round of 16 and they will be facing former African champions Tunisia.
The North African side are regarded as one of the best teams in the ongoing tournament.
But the Black Stars who have won the competition on four occasions have better history when it comes to the AFCON than Tunisia.
The Black Stars are yet to lose an AFCON game to Tunisia after seven meetings. Ghana have claimed six victories and drawn one.
The last time Ghana played Tunisia was in 2012 which the Black Stars won 2-1 thanks to Andre Ayew’s late strike.
But there is one interesting fact that football lovers must know. The four times Ghana won the AFCON, they defeated Tunisia en-route in winning those trophies.
As the Black Stars faced Tunisia on Monday, July 8, 2019, many Ghanaians are praying for the said history to repeat itself.
