- Country Man Songo has descended heavily on the Black Stars players and coach Kwesi Appiah after their exit from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations
- Ghana’s quest for a fifth AFCON trophy ended after Tunisia defeated the Black Stars 5-4 on penalties in the final round of 16 match of the tournament
Sports journalist Patrick Osei Agyemang, popularly known as Country Man Songo, has hit out at the Black Stars, describing the players as “indisciplined womanizers”.
The sports presenter could not hide his frustration following another disappointing campaign for Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghanaian hearts were once again broken after Tunisia secured a penalty shootout win over the Black Stars in the round of 16 of the tournament.
Following what was a tensed 1-1 draw after both regulation time and extra time, the North African side triumphed in the shootout.
Caleb Ekuban’s miss proved to be Ghana’s undoing, as Tunisia netted all their penalties to emerged 5-4 winners.
Songo described the players as a bunch of “overpaid, over-pampered and indisciplined womanizers who are only interested in robbing the Ghanaian taxpayer”.
He accused some of the players of denying themselves sleep because they could not stay away from women while in camp.
According to him, most of the players engaged in acts that made them exhausted even before they took to the field to play football.
“Some of the players are not correct. The thing has hurt me but these players are not correct,” the fireman lashed out.
“They can’t even control themselves. They don’t sleep at night. They did a lot of nonsense things. These guys could not stay away from women for just three weeks.
“Majority of them lack common sense because if they did their performance wouldn’t have been that bad. All they know is money.”
The controversial presenter further called for the sack of Coach Kwesi Appiah, saying Ghana’s elimination from the round of 16 of the AFCON is a complete disaster.
“Kwesi Appiah is a goner. He was given a simple task of winning the AFCON and he failed so he should leave.
“Kwesi Appiah has had more time and money to prepare a great team but what did we see. No tactics, no plan, everything he did was poor,” Songo added.
