The deputy minister of Information, Ama Dokuaa Asiamah Adjei, has disclosed the main reason behind the recently held demonstration in Accra.
According to her, the demonstration, dubbed Kum Y3n Pr3ko, is an agenda of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She added that a majority of the demonstrators were executives and members of the NDC and not aggrieved Ghanaians as it was attempted to project.
YEN.com.gh understands that on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, scores of Ghanaians hit the streets to protest the growing intolerance and bad governance under the Akufo-Addo-led administration.
Per a report by Starrfm.com.gh, the demonstration was organised by the the Coalition for Social Justice.
Adjei noted that the act was an NDC agenda as the party sought to create the impression that Ghanaians are enduring hardships.
She went on to say that the government is however ready with answers to all the allegations raised as part of the demonstration.
Adjei also said that on issues of press freedom, economy and security, the government has demonstrated its competence in creating the environment of each of them to thrive.
In other news, the member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker, has become the latest legislator to be arrested for traffic offence.
The MP was nabbed after he drove in the middle of the road in an attempt to beat traffic. Duker failed to stop when police caught him flouting road traffic rules on the Spintex Road on Monday, July 8, 2019.
