- Mubarak Wakaso has finally opened up after Ghana's defeat to Tunisia
- Mubarak Wakaso was voted Man of the Match in the round of 16 game
- After receiving the award, he was spotted crying for failing to qualify for the next round of the competition
Black Stars midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has finally reacted following the country’s early exit from the 2019 AFCON still ongoing in Egypt.
Despite Ghana’s failure to progress to the next stage of the competition, Wakaso was adjudged Black Stars’ best player.
The four-time African champions lost 5-4 on penalties to Tunisia after the regulation time ended 1-1.
Following Ghana’s shocking exit, Wakaso who was voted man of the match of the said game was spotted weeping uncontrollably.
However, Wakaso has made his first social media post following the team’s defeat to Tunisia on Monday, July 8, 2019.
He simply wrote: “we thank everyone for support.”
Ghana was kicked out of the competition in somewhat bizarre circumstances after a goal scored by the team's captain, Andre Ayew was ruled out as the referee claimed there was a handball in the build up to the goal.
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported how a throwback photo of Wakaso popped up after Ghana’s defeat.
In the photo, Wakaso was seen squatting behind a ball on a football pitch. Interestingly, he did not have a pair of boots on and appeared to have been playing the game barefooted.
