Authorities from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) have arrested Elizabeth Torgbor, popularly known as Mama Gee, over the sale of unregistered sexual enhancement products.
She was arrested on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, a statement signed by the Chief Executive of the FDA, Delese A. A. Darko, said.
Mama Gee is a popular figure among Ghanaians on social media due to her sale of vaginal care products and sexual enhancers.
Some of her herbal formulations are alleged to be effective at giving women who use them the ability to amplify the sexual experience for their men.
However, she has now found herself in trouble after she was picked up by the police for selling unregistered products.
She was arrested at her shop in Madina near Rawlings Park with the assistance of personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The FDA warned the public against purchasing Mama Gee’s products, insisting they are not approved and therefore cannot be substantiated.
“The FDA wishes to advice the general public not to patronize such products from Mama Gee since it has not been approved by the Authority and the claims cannot be substantiated,” sections of the statement read.
The FDA further urged the public to endeavour to report any cases related to the sale products that are unapproved by the Authority.
