- Anxious customers of Menzgold have renewed their agitations for retrieval of their investments
- They are asking the Ghana Police to produce NAM1 for questioning
- Failure to do so, they said, would force them to storm the CID headquarters
Aggrieved customers of gold dealership firm, Menzgold Ghana Limited, have renewed their agitations with a threat to besiege the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to demand the whereabouts of the CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah
They say they want to question NAM1 over their locked-up funds at Menzgold and his payment plan.
The group said its members want proof that NAM1, who is in police custody awaiting trial for fraud, is truly in Ghana.
The angry customers expressed rage on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at the Accra International Press Centre when they channeled their request to the CID through the media.
The spokesperson for the aggrieved customers, Fred Forson, told Class FM that it seemed everything was "shrouded in secrecy”.
“If the reports say that he [NAM1] is in police custody, then we need to go to the CID headquarters so that they can give us access to see our man ourselves and possibly ask him a few questions about the fate of our investment,” he said.
They have, therefore, tabled a raft of demands before the government, adding that any attempt to disregard their concerns will lead to a vote against President Nana Akufo-Addo in the upcoming 2020 elections.
In other news, the Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide, has said the appointment of Kwame Owusu as the new Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), was based on his excellent track record in his previous position at the Ghana Maritime Authority.
He added that Kwame Owusu would outperform in his new position.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, Hadzide described the president’s decision as a good one.
