Ashesi students build solar power station to provide remote community with electricity

As part of measures to connect a remote village to electricity, engineering students at Ashesi and a local NGO, have built a solar power station to bring power to Eskubi, a remote village in Eastern Region, Ghana.

The university took to its social media platform via Facebook to announce the laudable initiative.

Many residents in rural Eskubi are without proper road networks and electricity, which affects the economic engagements of residents.

The university's partnership with the NGO will connect the community to electricity and help build local capacity, inspire the younger generation and prepare to usher the remote community to the rest of Ghanaians.

This a remarkable effort to invest in solar power and help connect underserved communities.

The initiative will help bridge the community with others.

Meanwhile, at a time when plastic has become a herculean menace for many countries, here in Ghana, young individuals are undertaking projects that turn plastic waste into fuel like grease, diesel and petrol for household use.

The project has received a GEFSGPGhana UNDP Ghana support to begin the pilot stage of the laudable initiative.
