Marriages should have expiry dates – Lady campaigns

- A lot of people these days see marriage as some life imprisonment

- It is for this reason and more that a lady is advocating for marriages to have expiry dates

- She believes people would have the option to choose to renew the union or not

A lady has started a campaign on Twitter that Marriage licenses should have date of expiration.

So that after the expiring date, the couple in the marriage can decide whether to renew or continue with the union.

According to her, a lot of people have over the years complained that marriage was almost like life imprisonment, where the only way out was divorce — which was even not permitted on religious grounds.

A marriage license is a document issued, either by a church or state authority, authorizing a couple to marry.

The procedure for obtaining a license varies between countries and has changed over time. Marriage licenses began to be issued in the Middle Ages, to permit a marriage which would otherwise be illegal.

In other news, no one knows the secret of a happy, lasting marriage and each union is unique and has its own set of rules.

However, a Facebook user identified as Lemichi Chidi, has opined that marriage is only for those who understand and practice forgiveness.

Chidi stated that it’s not all roses and rainbows in marriage and in fact, those getting into it should prepare to be hurt countless of times but it is important to have the ability to forgive and move on.
