The Paramount Chief of the Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area, Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, believes President Akufo-Addo has fulfilled the majority of promises he made to Ghanaians.

According to him, “we will sit here until morning” if we are to start listing all the honoured promises of the Akufo-Addo government.

The Chief said this when the President visited Assin Breku as part of his three-day tour of the Central Region.

He, therefore, thanked the President for delivering on promises he made in the lead up to the 2016 general elections.

If we decide to list all the things that you have done for us, we will sit here until morning,” Nana Prah Agyensaim VI said.

Ever since you assumed the high office, we believe that you have fulfilled most of the promises you made to the people of this nation. God bless you!

He further lauded the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for implementing the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.

The policy, he said, has helped lessen the burden of poor parents who used to struggle to send their wards to secondary school.

With the amount of poverty in this area, we are extremely grateful to you for enforcing the Free SHS policy to ensure that our children can also go to school.”

“We know the number of children that could be educated to the Senior High level before Free SHS was introduced, and we also know the number of children who now have that opportunity.

“Here in this municipality, I dare say that the number has doubled and yet their parents have not paid a dime,” the Assin Owirenkyi Chief stated.

He, however, appealed to the President to build a Nursing and Midwifery Training College to be in the area.

We have been asking for this for a long time. Sometimes we see a little progress and then it retrogresses. However, we know that once the President has heard about it, he will give the necessary support to make sure it sees the light of day,” he added.
