Ghanaian international Kwabena Owusu has rubbished reports that Black Stars players had $80, 000 as appearance fees at the 2019 AFCON.
According to the winger, the appearance fees the Black Stars had was $20,000.
The Black Stars were rumoured to have received $80,000 as their appearance fees for the tournament but the new boy says the report is far from true.
Speaking on GHone TV Owusu said the story is not true and that they rather took something lower than that.
“We did not get $80,000 as appearance fee, our appearance fee was $20,000," Owusu stated.
Owusu was one of Ghana’s revelations at the just ended tournament tournament in Egypt.
In other news, the Minister of Youth and Sports has disclosed that Ghana’s total expenditure at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) was $4.5million.
Isaac Asiamah confirmed this when he briefed Parliament Wednesday, July 24 concerning the AFCON budget.
He said the country had budgeted $6.3million for the tournament but saved $1.7million after exiting at the last 16 stage.
