Renowned legal practitioner Ace Anan Ankomah has dragged social commentator, Kevin Ekow Baidoo Taylor to court, accusing him of defamation.
The lawyer has sued Mr. Taylor and his firm, Loud Silence Media, and is demanding ¢10 million as damages.
“…the plaintiff’s counsel Thaddeus Sory said, “damages in the sum of GHc10,000,000 for the defamatory statements published by the defendants on defendants’ Facebook page ‘With All Due Respect – Loud Silence Media’ on 23/07/19 and YouTube on 24/07/19, the subject matter of this suit,” the plaintiff’s writ said.
Ace Ankomah is being represented by Thaddeus Sory. The Counsel said Mr. Taylor made false claims against his client.
According to him, the social commentator “has injured his hard-won reputation into hatred, ridicule, obloquy, discredit, contempt, vilification, reproach”.
This, Mr. Sory said, has caused Mr. Ankomah “great distress and emotional trauma.”
He also wants the High Court to restrain the defendant from further publishing other defamatory words against his client.
Mr. Ankomah, the former Director of the Economic Organised Crime Organisation (EOCO), Dr K.K Amoah, as well as other officials were implicated in the sabotage of the young business mogul, in a story published by Mr. Taylor, who is a US based Ghanaian journalist.
Mr. Taylor accused Mr. Ankomah and Dr. K.K Amoah of masterminding the alienation and current fate of the gold firm boss Nana Appiah Mensah.
According to him, the renowned lawyer was the first contacted by Horizon Royal Diamonds when the Dubai company came to Ghana to file charges against those who defrauded them.
Ace Ankomah knew all along that NAM1 was not a fraudster, but connived with Dr K.K Amoah to drag the issue, ultimately frustrating the Dubai company into including NAM1 in its list of suspects.
