General Corporal Agatha Nana Nabin was shot dead on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at a snap checkpoint. It was around 11:45 pm. General Corporal was stopped by unknown men dressed as military men for checks. After stopping the car, the armed criminals shot at the General Corporal and other occupants of the vehicle. General Corporal Agatha Nana Nabin died on the spot. Some of her colleagues survived the attack with injuries that were later treated. They have since been discharged.

It has been confirmed that the gunned down Policewoman is General Corporal Agatha Nana Nabin of the Tamale Regional Police Headquarters, Number 5472. She and two other personnel were on the night of Tuesday, July 30, 2019, in charge of conducting snap check duties on the Kumbungu road. This is near the Star Oil Filling Station, and at the outskirts of Tamale.
2. Five suspects have been apprehended following the gun down of General Corporal Agatha Nana Nabin and one is hurt
The police have arrested at least five suspects over the murder of General Corporal Agatha Nana Nabin in Tamale on Tuesday. According to a statement released by the Public Relations Officer for the Northern Region Police Command, DSP Mohammed Tanko, the suspected criminals were picked up in Tamale.
The statement issued by DSP Mohammed Tanko further revealed that out of the five suspects, one of them had sustained injuries during arrest. The police team raided a camp operated by a juju man сum who is a suspected armed robber. The suspect is believed to have been terrorizing peace-loving Ghanaians for a long time in the northern sector of Ghana. He is also suspected to have been involved in gunrunning activities.
After raiding his camp, the suspect opened up fire on the heavily armed police enforcement team, who were forced to return fire, and eventually the suspect was subdued. He sustained severe gunshot injuries in the right arm and rib. The self-proclaimed fetish priest, Issahaku Yakubu Kambona, 35, believed to have shot and killed Corporal Agatha Nana Nabin, is reportedly unconscious since his arrest.
3. The police retrieved stolen ammunition from the suspects
After getting hold of the five suspects believed to be involved in the killing of General Corporal Agatha, the police conducted a thorough search on them. The crack Police investigation team managed to recover the two stolen weapons from the suspects at a snap checkpoint. In addition to the firearms, police were also able to retrieve the camouflage military uniform that the alleged criminals are believed to have worn during the operation. The attire was acquired from the room belonging to one of the suspects.
4. Police will not rest until the suspects have been brought to justice
The acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of Ghana, Mr. James Oppong Boanuh, visited the family of the late General Corporal Agatha in Tamale on Thursday. Mr James Oppong Boanuh assured the family that he would do everything in his power to bring the culprits to justice.
Speaking at the home of the late General Corporal, Mr. James Oppong Boanuh said that the service would not give up in their quest to bringing down these criminals. He further acknowledged that he would bring down the high powered officers involved in this case, as a means of showing not only the deceased’s family that he was taking the matter very seriously but also the nation of Ghana.
5. There is a reward being offered to any informant with any helpful information concerning the murder of General Corporal Agatha
Despite capturing the five suspected criminals, police are still appealing to the public to come forward and volunteer information that can lead them to arrest other individuals connected to the murder of this female police officer. The police have assured the public that they will grant any helpful informant with a GhC10,000 reward.
Despite being a sad situation for both the family of the deceased General Corporal and the police force, they are, however doing their best to bring the Tamale cop killer to justice. Five suspects have already been captured. There is a reward of GhC10,000 being offered to anyone with information about the murder of this female police officer.
