Lawyer keeps his locks and sets up own law firm to prove a point to others

- Marcus Shute Jr has established a law firm after being rejected by several others for keeping his locks

- According to him, he believes it is important to do something unique to redefine the legal profession

- Shute Jr added that he wishes to help make his colleague lawyers feel better about themselves

In the year 2002, Marcus Shute Jr, who grew up in Tenessee, took a bold decision to grow his locks.

According to him, his decision was based on a conviction that he needed to do something unique to redefine the legal profession.

Shute Jr intentionally refused to shave off his hair in a bid to establish the point that his personal appearance should have no impact on his legal career.

He added that it was also a ploy to help make his colleague lawyers feel better about themselves.

Pulse.com.gh reports that he has since opened his own law firm in Nashville, Tennessee.

The lawyer revealed that he was often informed his looks would cost him his job if he was not careful.

He went on to say he was even disregarded for a promotion even though he technically deserved it.

Shute Jr is of the opinion that it is alright if one refuses to confirm to the presumed standards in the industry.

Meanwhile, in April 2012, about 1000 Islamic fighters took over the city of Timbuktu in Mali and destroyed most of its treasures.

There was another attack on the historic city of Mosul in 2014 and the fighters demolished many religious structures.
