- The ministry stated that 5% of Ghana's population is made up of disabled people and for that reason it is necessary to help them contribute to national development
- It also indicated that about 500 disabled men would receive similar funding in the year 2020
The Business Development ministry has released another tranche of funds for the benefit of about 30 disabled female entrepreneurs, YEN.com.gh can confirm.
Information available shows that the beneficiaries were from the food and beverage, fashion and beauty, trade and commerce as well as the Information Technology sectors.
The amount released totaled GHC31,000 and the intent was to help consolidate the gains of national development.

The sector minister, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, indicated that disabled people form about 5% of Ghana’s population.
For that reason, he went on, national development may be a mirage if such people are ignored.
Per a report by citinewsroom.com, he added that only 41% out of the 52% of Ghana’s population who are women have access to formal financial services.
According to Dr. Awal, 500 disabled men would also receive funding in the year 2020.
YEN.com.gh understands that President Akufo-Addo made a similar donation to women with disabilities a few months ago.
In other news, social media users have praised a woman who helped her childhood friend back to normalcy after he went insane.
Two unidentified people were childhood friends and the woman fed, clothed and secured medical treatment for him.
Photos of them have surfaced online and social media users were full of praise for the woman with respect to her actions.
It has however been confirmed that the man lost his life a few months ago.
