For Richard Jenkins, the possibility of entering Harvard and on a full scholarship was far from reality.

As a child, he slept in shelters, had to endure extreme poverty, dealt with medical emergencies and fought off harassment from colleagues in class.

He however turned these challenges into tools of self-motivation and sought to create a better future for himself as well as his family.

With his two younger brothers, challenges forced him to relocate to Tennessee and later to Florida before moving back to Philadelphia.

It ultimately led to good grades and a growing interest in technology despite severe migraines that left him in the hospital in his first year.

He then applied for education at Harvard as well as other Ivy League schools and was excited when he gained admission. understands that he graduated as a valedictorian in June 2018 and had his interest in computer science, with a specific interest in artificial intelligence (AI).
