President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame has once again inaugurated, an ultra modern indoor sports stadium built in just 6 months.
The Kigali Arena, according to a report is a joint venture between the Government of Rwanda and Turkish Investment Company, Summa.
The 10,000-seat facility is multi-purpose for indoor games, but would also host meetings, conferences, exhibitions and concerts.
Among other sports, the state-of-the-art arena will be home to major basketball and volleyball events in the country.
The construction project of the arena generated between 1000 and 1200 jobs for the labor community who work day and night, in shifts, to ensure the facility is completed in time.
Pascale Mugwaneza, the Vice-President of Rwanda Basketball Federation (Ferwaba), is optimistic that the facility will greatly impact the local basketball; both at club and national team level.
In other news, the Vice-President of Liberia Dr Jewel Howard-Taylor has described the city of Accra as the "America of Africa’’ while commending the government of Ghana for making the capital city, a metropolitan one.
Dr Jewel Howard-Taylor was speaking at the opening ceremony of a three-day Heritage and Cultural Society of Africa (HACSA) summit on Wednesday, 7 August 2019 held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.
“Accra has become the America of most of us so instead of going to New York and California, most people come to Accra,” Dr Howard-Taylor said.
