Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan has taken a swipe at Kwesi Appiah after suggesting he gave the coach his “first CV”.

Disgruntled by the decision, Gyan retired from the national but rescinded his decision after holding talks with President Akufo-Addo.

Speaking on the issue for the first time, the former Sunderland forward said he felt Appiah did not treat him fairly.

He further took a swipe at the Black Stars coach, insisting he gave him [Appiah] his first CV.

I gave Kwesi Appiah his first CV, he didn’t have anything in 2013. I scored 12 goals to help Ghana qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup," Gyan told Accra-based Asempa FM.

I think this was the time for him to have paid it back, but he is the coach he decided not to give me much playing time.”

Gyan also lamented his lack of enough playing time during the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The striker did not start a single game as the Black Stars exited the tournament at the round of 16 stage.

I got injured in most parts of last season, but getting to the end of the season I recovered and scored three goals in four games, so my team and other clubs were monitoring me in this AFCON, but I wasn’t given much playing time by the coach,” he added.

Gyan is currently without a club, having parted ways with Turkish club Kayserispor.
