News of his invention soon spread and led to international fame that brought with it several opportunities.

Kamkwamba, per a report by face2faceafrica.com, was born on August 5, 2019, and is the second child in his family.

He received basic education but dropped out of school because his family faced financial challenges after a famine swept through his village.

He consequently developed interest in reading science books; a habit that became the foundation for his creation.

Using a radio motor, tractor fan blade, old shock absorber and blue gum trees, he built a prototype which helped power four light bulbs and charge cellular phones.

His third attempt at building a windmill was enough to pump grey water to help with irrigation.
