Ghanaians react as Busia’s daughter says Legon should be named after dad

- Social media users have reacted in the strongest of terms after Nana Frema Busia stated that the University of Ghana should be named after Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia, her father

- According to her, her father contributed a lot to the university and for that reason it is right that it should be named after him

- This claim did not go down well with some social media users who expressed their opinions about her statement

Ghanaians have taken Nana Frema Busia, daughter of Ghana’s former prime minister, the late Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia, to the cleaners for suggesting that the University of Ghana should be named after him.

Nana Busia argued that she is right to make such a call because it is justified as her father was the first professor at the university.

This did not however go down well with some social media users who strongly reacted to her demand:

Perez added that he also wants the university named after his father.

Kudzo asked her to change her name instead.

Benedictus added that it is a good point as we are in the season of renaming things.

Leni also said every student should also have Busia's name.

Agbola also noted that Ghana should also be named after her father.

Acheampong wondered if it would provide jobs for the youth of Ghana.

In other news, Paul Makonda, the regional commissioner of Tanzania’s capital city, Dar es Salaam, has revealed there are plans to publish the names of all married men in the city.

According to him, the identities of all such men would be uploaded on a state-run website so that they don’t deceive single ladies.

Makonda explained that the proposal, once adopted, would help save a number of young women in the city from heartbreaks.

The commissioner revealed that several women have complained to him about how men deceive them and they have had enough.

He said the men promise to marry them only to later ditch them, leading to humiliation.
