Chelsea midfielder N'golo Kante is a doubt for his side's UEFA Super Cup clash agsinst Liverpool at the Vodafone Arena on Wednesday, August 14.
The French star was said to have picked up a minor injury in last weekend's 4-0 humiliation at Old Trafford despite not starting the game.
A Marcus Rashford brace, with one goal each from Anthony Martial and Daniel James ensured the Red Devils got their campaign off to a flying start.
Bluess boss Frank Lampard however revealed the status on the former Leicester City star ahead of the all important clash.
"N'Golo Kante picked up a small injury on Sunday and is being assessed." The manager told media during press conference.
"He also says he will pick his best team tomorrow based on merit, namechecking Mason Mount as somebody who deserves his chance. #SuperCup."
Despite his side's heavy defeat in their opening Premier League fixture at Old Trafford, Lampard says he is confident of a good result at the end of the match.
"I am optimistic about tomorrow's game. I am also proud to be here managing the team. I know the quality of Liverpool too.
"We know it's going to be a big test but if we play to our maximum we can win the match.' #SuperCup.
On Willian and Rudiger's recoveries, Lampard confirmed they are not yet totally fit for the match but revealed they will be in the match day squad.
"The two players are here. Their fitness will continue to be worked on but they will be on the bench tomorrow. But I want to be careful with them.
Legit.ng earlier reported that former Man United boss Jose Mourinho has urged Frank Lampard to infuse a bit of experience in the Chelsea team that will battle Liverpool for the UEFA Super Cup title.
The two Premier League teams will face off for the first time this season following their triumph in Europe last campaign.
Jurgen Klopp's men lifted the Champions League title, while the west London side were victorious in the Europa League after demolishing Arsenal in the final of the tournament.
