Celebrated Ghanaian musician Kidi, has told a sad story of how the headquarters of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana rejected him.
Even before his rejection, Kidi said he was judged wrongly by the church based on his appearance.
This was when he was assigned to do his compulsory national service with them after school.
Kidi, known in private life as Dennis Nana Dwamena, reportedly made this revelation in an interview with Hitz FM, as seen by YEN.com.gh on social media.
According to the musician, he had dressed very sharply that day having in mind his place of service, but he was asked to go home, after an official at the church’s headquarters told him that he does not look like he was supposed to work there.
He added that the officer even thought he was telling lies about being posted there when he asked him further “Are you sure they posted you here?”
Kidi said he was later told that his hair would not allow him to work with the church, a ‘holy’ place, and many pleas to the church fell on deaf ears.
‘‘The Presbyterian [church] Headquarters, was my first posting. I remember that day walking into their building and they rejected me. They asked me to go back because I don't look like someone who is supposed to work there’,” Kidi narrated.
“I wore a nice shirt. I dressed like I was expected, but they said I can’t work there with my hair. They just looked at me and judged me,” he added.
That was not the end of the world for Kidi, who later got another opportunity to work with the National Service Secretariat (NSS) headquarters, after he went to see them for reposting.
The situation, the young singer revealed, has left him very critical of the church, which to him scatters instead of gathering.
He further stressed his dislike for judgmental people, saying he was glad his assignment with the Presby church did not materialise.
Meanwhile, Kidi was in the news recently when a lady claimed that he slept with her.
In that earlier report by YEN.com.gh, the bold lady listed the names of other celebrities who slept with her.
