- A boy and his four friends have been picked up by police officials for faking a kidnap and demanding ransom.
- The plan occurred to the boy after his father sold a car in a bid to use the proceeds to cater for the family.
- His father revealed he was devastated as the boy has never asked for money for a party from him before.
Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that a 15-year-old boy colluded with four friends aged between 18 and 22 years to fake his kidnap and demand ransom from his father.
Police officials in Jos, a city in Nigeria say that the act was done in an expert manner and the suspects almost got away with it.
The spokesman for the police, Terna Tyopev, revealed that the suspects planned to use the 500,000 Naira demanded for a graduation party.
YEN.com.gh understands that three days before the staged act, the boy’s father sold his car with the intent to avail money for the family’s upkeep.
The boy therefore came up with the plan after searching the house for the money but was unable to find it.
Terna Tyopev, per a report by bbc.com, stated that the boy’s father had deposited the money in his bank account.
The fake abduction was foiled when security officials traced the phone used in the negotiations to an apartment in the city.
They reportedly stormed the building and saw the boy having a conversation with his friends.
The boy’s father was reportedly dejected at the discovery as his son had never asked him money for a party before.
In other news, YEN.com.gh has sighted a photo of the Densu River which was taken in the year 1914 and has stimulated fond memories from a cross-section of Ghanaians.
The photo was reportedly taken at Nsawam in the Eastern region, where the river is located. The town is located on a major railway and the highway to Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
The river acts as a border with Adoagyir which is another town in the same region. The Densu River acts as a source of water for both domestic and industrial use for people in and around Nsawam.
