Celta Vigo vs Real Madrid La Liga clash saw a 10-man Real Madrid claim a massive 3-1 victory away to Celta Vigo on Saturday evening, August 17, 2019, at Abanca-Balaídos.
The encounter saw Real Madrid without former Chelsea star Eden Hazard through injury, allowing Gareth Bale, who was reportedly close to leaving the Madrid giants this summer a place in the starting XI.
The Welshman was on top of his game as he created Real Madrid opening goal on 12 minutes, assisting Karim Benzema with a decent cross, to net from close-range finish.
Celta Vigo came into the cost after going down and almost have levelled scores on the half hour, but Real Madrid's Raphael Varane was to hand to stop Iago Aspas strike, to see Los Blancos keep their advantage.
The Célticos netted an equaliser on the dot of halftime through Brais Mendez, but Video Assistant Referee checks adjudged Aspas to be offside in the build-up, to see both sides go into the break with Real Madrid enjoying a goal lead.
After the restart, Celta Vigo were handed the advantage after Real Medrid was reduced to 10 men after Luka Modric saw a straight red, with the VAR replay showing that midfielder’s challenge on Denis Suarez was poor.
Despite enjoying a numerical disadvantage, Real Madrid doubled their effort a minute after the hour mark, with Toni Kroos finding the net from distance that went straight underneath the crossbar.
Celta Vigo continued asking the question as they tried to push for a comeback, but Real Madrid added the third goal, with Benzema assisting Lucas Vazquez for a cool finish from close range.
However, there was still time for Celta Vigo to net a consolation in stoppage time of the second-half, after Thibaut Courtois failed to stop Iker Losada’s powerful strike beating as the contest end 3-1 in Real Madrid favour at full-time.
