Chelsea vs Leicester City: Wilfred Ndidi’s goal saves Foxes from defeat at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea vs Leicester City Premier League clash on Sunday evening, August 18, ended in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

The encounter saw Chelsea welcome back N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud in the starting XI, while Christian Pulisic also earned a start.

3Christian Fuchs replaced injured Ben Chilwell from the Leicester side team that played out a goalless draw with Wolves last weekend.

Chelsea claimed an early lead in the seventh minute after Mason Mount applied pressure on Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi to claim the ball before striking a low shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Mount came close to netting a double in the 20th minute from a decent cross from Cesar Azpilicueta, but his headed effort was saved by Schmeichel, while Fuchs stopped Kante’s goal attempt inside the box.

The Foxes tried to get back into the contest before the break, but Chelsea protected their slim lead, with scores in their favour at half time.

Leicester were the better side after the restart started the second stanza on the front foot and almost leveled scores in the 57th minute , with James Maddison’s left-footed shot missing target by inches.

However, in the 67th minute Ndidi redeemed himself, by nodding home a corner-kick by Maddison to cancel out the deficit.
