Cristiano Ronaldo names Mayorga's assault allegation as the most difficult of his career

- Cristiano Ronaldo does not have to think about any lawsuit again

- The Portuguese star was accused of assaulting an America lady during his reign at Man United

- Ronaldo admits being accused of such crime was tough on him when the news broke

- The 34-year-old believes his innocence has been proven as the US police are no longer pursuing the case

Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that being alleged to have assaulted a lady was the most difficult period of his life.

The 34-year-old striker was accused of forcing himself on Kathryn Mayorga while he was still at Manchester United in June 2009.

Though, the United States authorities have dropped the case for lack of enough evidence, Ronaldo feel it was a stain on his integrity for such allegation to have been levied against him.

The Portuguese star opened up on the matter for the first time since it was brought back to fore by the media, saying 'when people question your honour, it hurts'.

He further said while granting Portuguese channel TVi interview that he was proud that his innocence has been proven by the actions of the cops.

He said: "When people question your honour, it hurts. It hurts a lot mainly because I have a big family, a wife and an intelligent child who understands a lot of things.

"This is a case I'm not comfortable expressing myself on. But once again, my innocence has been proven. It makes me proud.

Meanwhile, SunSport reports that Ronaldo's representatives admitted for the first time that the footballer paid about $375,000 to Ms Mayorga after sealing a world record move from United to Real Madrid.

It would be recalled that the Juventus star denied paying the American lady when she slammed Ronaldo with a lawsuit for assaulting her last year - with the striker calling it "fake news."

The Sun claims new documents reveal that Ronaldo bought Miss Mayorga's silence with a six figure settlement in 2010.

The footballer's lawyer, Peter Christiansen, wrote in a document: "Mr Ronaldo paid [Kathryn Mayorga] the sum of $375,000 and both parties agreed to be bound by explicit confidentiality and non-disparagement obligations."

It was earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo's lawyers confirmed that the Portuguese striker paid American model Kathryn Mayorga over £300,000 despite assault denial.

Mayorga and her legal team brought up a case of assault against Cristiano Ronaldo which the American claimed to have occurred in 2009 in an hotel.

She accused Cristiano Ronaldo of assaulting her in Las Vegas hotel in which the Juventus star denied to have done what he was alleged of.
