While most university students have a mindset of completing school to get employed, Jerry Kwabena Awuku, has become an outstanding example of what it means to be resilient, creative and thinking in and out of the box.

Despite being a final year student at the Regional Maritime University, Jerry Kwabena Awuku, has started his own company which has become quite an established brand with many affiliates.

Kwabena Awuku is the founder of African Institute for Employability and Entrepreneurship and also the Chairman of The Nautical Group which comprises of AIEE, Nautical Drys Laundry Services & X’clusive Nautical Cleaners, After Party Cleaners, Gracious God Farms, Rhema Industries among others.

His journey to starting his own company was enabled by several failed attempts to work as an intern with some companies.

And after many disappointments and rejections from the company of his uncle, who works in one of the biggest mining companies, Kwabena Awuku was stirred up to commence a laundry start-up while in his first year at the university.

His first laundry start-up company Nautical Drys, established in 2017 in Nungua, has birthed another branch at Spintex in Accra.

Resilient Awuku took the bold decision to start another company, Rhema Industries, a soap production company.

But those start-ups were just the beginning of a much bigger vision.

Jerry Kwabena Awuku started the AIEE School of Entrepreneurship, now African Institute for Employability and Entrepreneurship.

The proud son of a farmer, who once assisted his parents together with his siblings on their oil plantation, maize farms, orchards and oil milling business also started Agritech, an agricultural company with focus in food production and farm development.

And after years of being a resource person and speaker at revered conferences, Awuku began his own non-profit organization, AfeeAfrica, also during his first year in the university.

Jerry Kwabena Awuku has supported many youth development and social gender initiatives including his organization’s partnership with Afropop, dancehall and reggae musician Livingstone Satekla famed as Stonebwoy, under his organization The Livingstone Foundation, which trained nearly 100 persons with disability via their “Disability is not inability’’ project.

He is a member of several youth and development initiatives both home and abroad including Global Peace Chain where he serves as a Global peace Chain ambassador.

Meanwhile, from a very deprived family, a young brilliant Ghanaian boy had to struggle to complete high school and despite having obtained remarkable grades, Abdul Razak, nearly missed an opportunity to pursue tertiary education.
