The President of the Nigerian Traders Union in Ghana, Chukwuemeka Lavi Nnaji has said that the incessant and unwarranted attacks on Nigerian nationals living in other countries are due to jealousy.
Chukwuemeka said Nigerians were the target of various attacks everywhere they found themselves due to their success in every endeavor they pursued.
Speaking on CiTi TV's ‘The Point of View’ Nnaji noted that unlike other Africans, Nigerians found it easy to prosper in every trade they ventured into because they train properly, work hard and smart and assist one another to grow.
“If you see everywhere Nigerians live, even here in Ghana where they build their houses is special, it’s unique and people see it like ‘what is this people trying to tell us like we don’t know how to…’ but nobody stops you from learning,"he said.
Nnaji said their quest to learn from everything and everyone they come into contact with has been the main reason for the attacks on them wherever they found themselves.
He added that he was not pleased with how just one country had to endure such issues everywhere they found themselves.
Meanwhile, the 2010 World Cup hosts have been the subject of criticism across the continent following the wave of xenophobic attacks.
The situation escalated, with some gory photos and videos capturing happenings in Johannesburg.
